News Well we are still here, the credit crunch, smoking ban and the cheeepo supermarket have so far failed to kill us off but if this column does not change in the next 10 months you can be fairly sure they have had some effect !!!!!! Meanwhile we have a great entertainment scene lined up in Sept/Oct/Nov check out the Tribute acts. Also special events such as a Childrens Halloween Party and Children in Need show. See you there then.

Events Special Free Deal for Charities Until future notice, all Charities and Community Associations are welcome to use the Club's facilities (when available) free of charge, so give us a ring and see if we can help with your fundraising events.

of our new "Entertainer" system, which will provide you with everything from
race nights to karaoke and save the cost of a DJ with over 5000 pre-programable
tracks covering every type of music available. Check

Sports Pool, Darts, Table Skittles, Chess and, in the near future, a Football team all operate from the Club and have many team and individual trophies in their collection. Further information will be put on the Sports page soon. |
History Started in 1959 in a wooden shack and originally called the Humberstone Social Club, by 1964 the club had moved to a purpose-built building on the new Netherhall estate.The "Scrappy Valley", as it is fondly known, developed into one of the major clubs in the Midlands, with reputedly one of the largest stages, which have, over the years, attracted such well known names as Eric Bristow, Norman Vaughan, Bernard Manning, The Krankies, Billy J Kramer, Englebert Humperdinck and the Barron Knights among many other lesser known live entertainment acts.As recently as 1997 the club won the prestigious "Best in the Country award" presented by the Club Mirror with the judges describing the club as a "vital lifeline to the community it serves"At present the Club is involved in a rolling program of renovations and renewals to enable it to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
